# Install your plugin on your server

> Three moves: download, drop, restart.

**1. Download the .jar file**

In your project, click **Download the .jar**.

**2. Drop it in the plugins folder**

Put the file in the `plugins` folder of your Paper or Spigot server, on the Minecraft version chosen for your project.

**3. Restart your server**

Your plugin starts by itself.

> [!WARNING]
>
> A single-player world or a Realm does not read plugins. You need a Paper or Spigot server.

## My server is on another version

A plugin built for Minecraft 26.2 needs a server on 26.x. A tool like ViaVersion lets players on other versions in, but does not change the server's version. Write your server's version in your first message, for example "Paper 1.21.4". If you say nothing, Minax builds for Paper 26.2.

## I don't have a server

Try your plugin on Minax's [test server](https://docs.minax.fun/en/test-in-game/test-server.md). For a permanent server, you need a host.
