# Test your plugin in game

> Minax starts a real Minecraft server with your plugin installed. You join it from your game.

## What you need

* **Minecraft Java Edition**, on a computer. Bedrock, phones, tablets and consoles cannot join.
* An account that owns the paid version of Minecraft Java Edition: the server checks it when you arrive.
* A built plugin: finish the build in the chat first.

## How do I join my test server?

**1. Start the server**

Open the **Test in game** tab, then click **Start my test server**. Count about a minute, while Minecraft starts.

**2. Copy the address**

When the server is online, click **Copy the address**.

**3. Join in Minecraft**

Start Minecraft on the version shown, then **Multiplayer**, **Add Server**. Paste the address and join. Your plugin is already installed.

> To play on another version: Minecraft Launcher, **Installations**, **New installation**. A nearby version works too.

## Become admin (OP)

Click **Become admin (OP)** and enter your Minecraft username: letters, numbers and underscore, no spaces or accents. If you were already in game, reconnect.

## Send commands to the server

The server console shows live on the page. Type a command and **Send**. In the console, you write the command without the slash, for example `time set day` or `gamemode creative`. The slash is only for the in-game chat.

## Invite a friend

Your game is private. Click **Invite a friend** and add their Minecraft username: they can then join with the same address.

## Test an older version

In the [history](https://docs.minax.fun/en/conversation/history.md), choose **Test this version in game**. **Back to the latest version** takes you to the newest one.

## Why did my server stop?

* Your session reached its length: 30 minutes at most per session.
* Nobody has played for a while, or you clicked **Stop**.
* Minax is changing your plugin: start the server again when it is ready.
* Your minutes for the month are used up. See [Test server minutes](https://docs.minax.fun/en/test-in-game/minutes.md).

Click **Start a server again** to go on.

## Messages you may see

| Message | What to do |
| - | - |
| "Failed to verify username", "Invalid session" | Your account does not own the paid version of Minecraft Java Edition, or your launcher is signed out. Sign in to your launcher again. |
| "Another test server is running right now" | One spot at a time: try again in a few minutes. |
| "You already have a test server running" | One server per person: starting another stops the first one. |

> Only the project's owner starts the test server: it uses their plan.
